The Basic Design Report of the Nyabarongo II hydropower plant in Nahar, Rwanda, has been successfully approved after a year of hard work.
This is the largest hydropower project implemented by China and Rwanda in cooperation, and will make a significant contribution to the country's energy security and economic development. The power plant is located on the Nyabarongo River, about 25 km from the capital Kigali, with an installed capacity of 43.5 MW. The project is an EPC+F contract with a construction period of 56 months. The project includes the construction of the dam, flood protection system, water intake and power generation system, as well as transmission and substation lines.
